Mastering the Art of Contrast Collars and Ties

When you have a shirt that has cuffs and a collar in a different color, it is often called a contrast collar. This look can be classy, sophisticated, and terribly sexy — but only if you know how to wear it correctly, and many men don’t.

Usually the contrasting cuffs and collar are white, but not necessarily. And really, the look all comes down to the tie you choose to wear with the shirt. If it is too pale in color and/or design, then the look will appear garish. If the tie is too plain, the style can look cheap.

Go bold with your tie but easy on the pattern of the shirt, more often than not. Silver, for instance, is a great accent color in the ties paired with this style.

In the summer, guys live in tee shirts — or at least they would like to, but sometimes it can get a little difficult. That is mainly because, fellas, you have absolutely got to think outside the box. Tee shirts are no longer just tee shirts, and you can keep the cool factor and the style factor while still changing things up a bit.

For instance, try a polo shirt — lightweight, comfortable, and undeniably stylish, it breathes new life into an old trend quite well.

Nautical tee shirts, both long sleeved and short sleeved, are always winners as well. They give off a very refreshing vibe, and you can rest assured that your girl will not get bored with your style — or lack thereof.

Graphic tee shirts are always fun, as long as the graphics in question remain fashion forward and trendy.

The same thing goes for sports tee shirt. Just make sure they are not boring; a plain old logo simply is not going to cut the mustard.

And last but not least, trust us when we tell you that the ladies will find a vee necked tee shirt beyond sexy.

When it comes to Armani, the first thing that usually comes to my mind is a sharp looking suit. However, Armani is known for their suits that is of course not the only thing that they do! Take this amazing piece for instance. This is one of the many pieces from their spring collection and I have to say that I love it! Not only does this piece look super comfortable, but the material is simply amazing for the spring and it is definitely worthy of the Armani name.

I love the fact that Armani is not only one of the best suit makers in the world but that they can switch it up all of the time and come out with all sorts of things! This piece is honestly one of the coolest looking casual suits I have seen in a very long time! The mixing of the fabrics, the way that it hangs and the shoes, it all looks super comfortable and definitely cool!

So if you are looking for something to wear this spring, ditch the ratty old tee shirts guys and get yourself some of Armani’s newest collection, I can promise that you won’t regret it!

Blue: The Newest Color For Men’s Wear!

So Merryl Streep had it right boys when she said: “…it’s not just blue, it’s not turquoise, it’s not lapis, it’s actually cerulean” in The Devil Wears Prada, because this season, that is exactly what color is hot! Cerulean is popping up on every runway in the world and while there are many different versions of this beautiful color, cerulean in all its forms is heating up the runway.

Sneakers, suit jackets, coats, pants, shirts, jeans and even socks and scarves have all been coming out blue and while I am personally a huge fan of the blue color, when it enough, enough? Well, apparently, the runway does not think it will ever be enough and the designers are constantly coming up with more and more blue things!

So guys, be on the look out for … blue! It is the hottest color this year and definitely a color that you should keep your eyes peeled for. Just one tip … don’t wear an all blue outfit, we don’t need anyone suspecting you are a Smurf or something.

Men’s Fashion: What’s Hitting Stores In ’09?

So while many guys have no idea what is new in fashion, there are quite a few things that are hitting the stores this year that you men should be aware of! For instance, the shirt that is pictures? Yes, the one with flowers on it … that is the direction that many of the men’s designers are leaning toward. Are you ready to look better than your girlfriend in flowery shirts? We thought so!

Designers like Shipley & Halmos (pictured), Obedient Sons, and Liberty of London are just three of the designers that have decided to spice up the world of men’s fashion with some of these flowery prints. The reason for it … you are probably asking yourself that right about now right? Well, it is because the world is trying to go a little bit greener!

As the world begins to get greener, the designers take inspiration from it and well … this is what is produced. Not my favorite in the world, but hey, if you are going for that ‘I’m metro sexual, ain’t I cool?’ look, this shirt could really work for you … right?

Lacoste has been classy for ages and when the label teams up with famous 47-year old Japanese fashion designer Junya Watanabe they come up with an excellent shirt that’ll work both as a casual and a formal one.

It’s a somewhat tight-fit shirt — and a hemline that sits at the top of the thighs for a very contemporary look. Lovely stuff!

Okay, so buying shirts doesn’t look like the most difficult thing in the world. You’re right, it isn’t, BUT: it can be tough for many guys — seeing as they don’t want to spend half a day checking out hundreds of different styles. A few small and useful tips can really shorten your mirror-looking time, and can help you find a brand/style that fits you perfectly — shortening your shopping time on later excursions dramatically.

Martin Margiela Spring/Summer 2008

If you like a little unordinary look about you, then Martin Margiela is the one to watch out for. The designs, although not unusual, were completely topped off with the wildest shoe colors. The clothes themselves are great, the detailing in the black shirt in the picture below is fabulous. I don’t dislike “loud” shoes, I think they’re great. Some may not agree, but they do seem to grab your attention, don’t they? Anyway, as far as the overall collection, it’s a good one. Everything seems very versatile and wearable. And I won’t even make a smart crack about the shoes.

Marithe and Francois Girbaud Spring/Summer 2008

Now, I’m not really sure that every guy out there will love this line. The clothes are more geared toward the younger generation, but they are all really cool clothes. From the droopy jeans to the printed shirts, everything is great. Again, I’m just not sure the older crowd will love it. The cuffed jeans are really fabulous, and all the pieces are great for casual wear, I don’t know if they are office appropriate, but nobody works all the time, right? Anyway, this is a great line if you like the street look, and the guys really look like they are having a blast showing them off.
