We have all heard that the shoes make the man, right? Well, as it so happens, the shoes can also break the man, if you little fashion princes are not careful.
Today’s fashion faux pas involves too big and clunky, chunky shoes — clodhoppers, as they are colloquially known. You want to stay as far away from these as possible in certain circumstances. Being a huge fan of Doc Martens, which can get a little chunky, I cannot completely warn you against all clunky shoes.
Still, if you wear skinny jeans or fitted trousers, chunky shoes are not your friends. You ought to stay away from them while you are at the office for certain. Sure, that look was big during the last decade, but now it is just … big. Too big. Gargantuan.
It is far better, especially for work, to choose a shoe which is classic enough to both look great and last a long time.
